Adam LaRosa and Canyon Runner Crew

Adam LaRosa has been fishing as long as he could hold a fishing pole on any one of the 37 boats his father, Captain Joseph LaRosa, has owned and operated through the years. At an early age, Adam was capable of running the cockpit and by the age of 12 was a full time Summer mate on several charter boats running out of Manasquan Inlet, NJ. The knowledge he gained during those Summers, coupled with his father desire to get into the charter fishing business, culminated in the purchase of the first Canyon Runner, a 28' Bertram, to be put into service as a charter boat in 1984.

Fishing the Northeast Canyons for 25 years Adam has logged over 500 trips to the continental shelf between The Dip, Hudson, Toms, Carteret, Lindencole, Spencer, Wilmington, and Baltimore Canyons. He has crewed the Canyon Runner to all of its tournament victories and has been instrumental in molding the Canyon Runner into the premier canyon charter boat on the East Coast. Moreover, he is responsible for making the Canyon Runner a top producer of tuna and marlin every time the Canyon Runner heads to the continental shelf. In addition, Adam has authored 20+ articles focusing on offshore fishing for the Big Game Fishing Journal and developed the Canyon Runner Seminar Series.

Adam no doubt attributes a lot of the Canyon Runner Program success to the salty crew he has assembled. Each and every member of the Canyon Runner crew has the offshore credentials that are second to none. He has taken great lengths to find the right individuals with all the skills, attitude, and work ethic needed to have a hard running offshore crew.

Capt. Damon Sacco

Captain Damon Sacco of the Castafari is a Massachusetts native who developed an appreciation for the sea at a very early age. By the age of 14, Damon was regularly fishing the waters off the New England coast and beyond. Damon continued his fishing aspirations, working as a mate on three different Cape Cod based commercial tuna fishing vessels. His propensity for the sea eventually developed into a full time career on the water. In the Spring of 1997, Damon established his own private sportfishing charter operation, Castafari Inc.

Captain Damon is an active sportfishing writer and photography enthusiast, and has had several of his fishing related photos and stories published in just about all of the major fishing publications. Some of his latest contributions were in Marlin Magazine, The Big Game Journal, Saltwater Sportsman, and On The Water. Keep an eye out this year in 2008 as there will be more stories and photos to come this Spring and Summer. Damon is also a speaker at the annual Saltwater Sportsman Seminar series hosted by George Poveromo.

Damon has logged over five thousand offshore hours at sea in waters from Maine to Florida. Damon has also logged well over a hundred trips to the offshore canyons of the Northeast. Damon has fished at many worldwide destinations, including Panama, Bora Bora, Costa Rica, The British Virgin Islands, Cabo San Lucas, Belize, The Bahamas, Venezuala, and right here in America. He is an active tournament fisherman, and has garnered proven success in local competitions each season. Two Massachusetts big game state records have been set on the Castafari.

Capt. Ray Rosher

Ray, a Miami native, has fished exclusively as a full time fishing guide in the South Florida and Bahamian waters for over 20 years. He shared his love of fishing with his father. That love and knowledge helped launch his career as a fishing guide at an early age.

Ray is among the sailfishing elite; Ray Rosher is the man to beat. Everyone who fishes offshore in South Florida knows of Capt. Ray Rosher and the Miss Britt charterboat out of Miami, either by watching firsthand how he and his crew operate with skillful harmony to deploy live baits and land bluewater gamefish, or from hearing secondhand reports of outstanding fights with everything from trophy dolphin to slab-sized swordfish. Tournament fishermen know Rosher even better, often having to applaud while he and his anglers walk up to receive the lion’s share of awards in many of the major sailfish events. From Southeast Florida to the Upper Keys, when Rosher and his crew enter a sailfish tournament, the Miss Britt instantly becomes the boat to watch. He has become one of the most successful sail-fishing tournament captains the sport has seen.

Capt. Dean Panos

Captain Dean Panos runs a professional charter business Double D Charters out of South Florida. He has been fishing the South Florida waters for over 18 years and is a proven tournament winner. He has written and has been featured in numerous national and local fishing magazines. Fishing has been a passion for this captain since the age of 2, and he shares this passion with all his clients. For almost 40 years of fishing, the captain still gets excited as the rod bends over on a swordfish, or a sailfish piles on the bait and greyhounds on the water.

Double D Charters specializes in offshore light tackle fishing in South Florida and the Bahamas as well as big game fishing for swordfish at night. Primarily using live bait tactics, Captain Dean targets sailfish, swordfish, dolphin, tuna, kingfish, tarpon & wahoo.

Capt. Eric Stewart

Capt. Eric Stewart has been a licensed captain for over 20 years, and has fished the waters of Cape Cod his whole life as well as the waters of Midway, Hawaii, Costa Rica, and South Africa in search of the ultimate fishing experience.

In recent years Capt. Eric has become one of the most successful “schoolie” Blufin fishermen on Cape Cod. He has the good fortune of being in close proximity of the rich fishing grounds East of Cape Cod and has developed some of the most productive techniques in “schoolie” tuna fishing in New England. His knowledge is not limited to “schoolies”; he has had his fair share of Giant and Canyon fishing as well.

Capt. Eric also owns and runs the “The Hook Up” tackle shop in Orleans Ma. The Hook Up is one of the finest, well, stocked and knowledgeable tackle shops in New England or the East Coast for that matter. He takes great pride in his fishing successes as well as educating his customers. He is a wealth of information and does not mind sharing his techniques and theories.

Capt. Eric was instrumental in the development of our Titanium “Aussie” bars. He fished the first prototype bars we manufactured. He bent, twisted and beat them up like nobody else could. He gave us his feedback that brought us to the bars we have today.
